Wednesday
Another stultifyingly boring day of training at the new job. This morning's session was conducted by a Project Manager. He kinda looked like the actor who plays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Needless to say, though, he doesn't have flowing white hair. He spoke with a curious accent... a vaguely annoying combination of English, Irish, and Texan.
Lunch was good again, although not amazing, like yesterday's $8 prime rib. I had a carnitas plate from the Mexican station, with pork, beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa, plus two small four tortillas. That, plus a small bowl of fresh fruit and a soda, was less than $6.
My manager told me that they will be making an offer of employment to one of the people I referred to them. I forwarded a couple of résumés from former coworkers, and I guess the first one they interviewed did really well. If he decides to accept the offer, that's $500 for me! Hahahaha. Me likey likey these referral bonuses. Actually, a $500 referral bonus for an engineer is small. The typical going rate is usually $1,000 to $1,500. But, whatever. It's still free money. If they hire everyone I referred to them, it would mean a total of $3,000 in free money. I wish I wish I wish I wish!
It's raining this evening. The first storm of the season was supposed to have arrived last night, but it actually stayed dry until around 6:30 PM tonight. I'm waiting for a break in the rain to take Devon out for a walk, because I am in no mood to have a damp dog inside the bedroom with me tonight.
