New day, new job

Today was my first day at the new job. It was pretty uneventful. There were three other guys who started today, and all of us spent the entire day in orientation. We got our laptops, sat through presentation after boring presentation, had lunch at the company cafeteria, and sat through more presentations.

The highlight of the day was actually the cafeteria. It is really nice. They have many different stations serving different kinds of food. Everything is cooked and assembled on order. Nothing sits under heatlamps or in water-heated chafing dishes. There's a cold cuts and salad bar. There's a pasta station where you can pick and choose among different sauces, meats, veggies, and pastas. There's an Indian and Middle Eastern station. There's a grill where you can get burgers, tuna melts, chicken breats, and roast chicken. There's a Chinese and Japanese station. There's a Mexican station.

And the icing? Everything is subsidized by the company. I had a tuna melt - cooked right in front of me - and steamed veggies, plus freshly made apple juice, for $5.00. Oy. I think I'm gonna get fat again.

And oh, yeah... sodas, iced teas, juices, and bottled water are all free at the office break rooms.

Fun.
