Today I ate like a porker. A porker that shops at Whole Foods. hahahaha.
I had some insalata caprese that I made. This is one of life's simplest but most delicious dishes. It's best during summer, when tomato season is at its peak. Mozzarella, tomatoes, basil chiffonade, sea salt, a little cracked pepper, and extra virgin olive oil. That's it. It takes all of five minutes to put all the ingredients together. It benefits from a bit of hanging-out time in the fridge, to let all the flavors come together, but it can also be eaten right away.
I also had some manchego cheese. Manchego is a nutty, slightly sharp and slightly sweet sheep's milk cheese from Spain. It's perfect for nibbling. The taste is complex but not overly so. I just kept shaving little slivers off of the wedge as I watched TV.
I also ate half a bar of Valrhona Le Noir. It's probably my favorite chocolate bar out there. It's 56% cacao. The flavor is very intense chocolate, with just a tad of sweetness. And the finish (aftertaste) is very long and out-of-this-world delicious. There's none of that sweet, mealymouth feeling that you get after eating mass-produced crap like Hershey's or Cadbury.
Ok, I think I'll eat the other half now, while I do my homework.
OINK.
