Do you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I do. I've loved 'em since I was a little boy. Growing up in Manila, my standard pb&j consisted of creamy peanut butter, white sandwich bread, and guava jelly. The guava jelly I remember, Ladies' Choice brand, was dark almost to the point of being black, very sticky, and sickeningly sweet. So sweet, in fact, that it was almost inedible by itself. Over time you could see the sugar recrystalizing in the jar. You had to eat it with something else (like peanut butter and white bread). I miss that guava jelly. Been Googling it casually for the past couple of days, but I can't seem to find any online stores that sell it.
These days I still love pb&j, although now my sandwiches consist of wheat sandwich bread, creamy peanut butter, and boysenberry preserve from Knott's Berry Farm. Two sandwiches at a time, preferably accompanied by a glass of ice cold 2% milk!
Let's eat!
